What
an adventure this has been. I’m so thankful for my family and friends who have
kept me in their thoughts and prayers. I am also so very thankful that this
experience was just shy of two months. I know that I could never make it
through a year, or a semester at that. I like communication, plans, and clear
expectations – three things the Chinese don’t understand.
If
someone told me on January 1st of this year that I would be going to
China, I would have laughed in their face. Actually, I laughed in mom, Kandy,
and Andrena’s faces when I told them about my completely random phone call
about the opportunity just 9 weeks ago. They all said they would go in a
heartbeat and that’s when I posted the question on Facebook. Of course I had to
go because I wanted to go and not
what everyone else was saying. It wasn’t an easy decision by any means;
however, I am grateful for the opportunity and know that if the chance ever
presented itself again, I will decline … unless it’s an English speaking,
hoagie eating kind of place!
They
say, “Everything happens for a reason” which I know some people think is
ridiculous sometimes, but I believe it. I have no idea why this door opened and
who knows what may come when the door closes. But this I know, had I not been
furloughed from Waynesboro, I would have never had the chance to see China.
Now,
the next chapter begins. I have a new long-term sub assignment at Shippensburg
Area Senior High School teaching Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and DigiTools
from September 14th (estimated … could be earlier if a baby comes
sooner) until the end of the first semester. It is going to be different for me
to be a “Greyhound” once again, but I’m ready for it!
Again,
I thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and countless hours everyone has spent
reading the blog – it means a lot to know that you took the time to think of me
or to read what I was up to during the past 7 weeks!
Until
the next adventure … wherever or whatever that may be! Don’t worry, I will let
you live vicariously through me on that one too!
As
I close this 67 page "chapter" of 40,557 words, I say, “I’m glad to be home - this adventure is over!”
